Ushering in the holiday season this year, Charlotte Players is inviting everyone to join them for the third annual Madrigal Dinner, held this year for the first time in the new multi-purpose facility at First Alliance Church on Midway Boulevard in Port Charlotte.
The medieval celebration of Christmas (an English boar’s head feast) takes place on three nights: Thursday, Nov. 30; Friday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 2. A cast of more than 75 talented actors, carolers, and entertainers will perform in Renaissance dress. A medieval-style reception and dinner is included in the ticket price. Different community leaders will serve as the Lord and Lady of the castle and will be featured at the head table each night along with an invited pastor/minister.
This year, the performance is being directed by Bill Olson, a Charlotte Players board member and the new drama teacher at Charlotte High School. He has a scheduled “casting days” for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, and 6:090 p.m. on Sunday, October 29. Anyone interested in being part of the show is encouraged to attend.
To preorder tickets (adults $40, students $20 each), visit the Charlotte Players website (www.charlotteplayers.org) or call the box office at (941) 625-4175, ext. 220. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the nonprofit Charlotte Players.
